Announcement by the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament
Today, Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Nikitas Kaklamanis met with Professor Gerasimos Siasos, Rector of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), at the Parliament building.
During their discussion, Professor Siasos updated Mr Kaklamanis on recent developments at NKUA, including the latest international partnerships with leading Universities abroad and the launch of a new Branch in Cyprus.
The new Branch represents a milestone in Higher Education and academic collaboration between Greece and Cyprus. It will reinforce the close national ties between the two countries, create new opportunities for students and faculty, and serve as a centre for education, research, and innovation both on the island and throughout South-Eastern Europe.
Additionally, it will facilitate joint academic and research initiatives with top Cypriot Universities.

‘I had the honour to meet with Speaker of the Parliament, Mr Nikitas Kaklamanis, and brief him on NKUA’s latest international collaborations, as well as the establishment of the new Branch in Cyprus, a significant step in expanding our global presence and strengthening the academic ties between the two countries. The Speaker expressed his keen interest in our strategic goals and the concerns of the University community, which reaffirms his and the State’s unwavering support for Education and higher learning’.
